And then there is BAD news!!!

That's right! The Lappy came back with BAD news! He's broken! My beloved is broken!

Mr. Lappy went in for surgery on his LCD and came back with the same LCD issue but now it is worse than before. It's like getting a cold bumped up to pneumonia. He has a shining new motherboard but there was nothing wrong with his old one. On top of that, his lovely casing is warped and cracked. What kind of abuse did they put you though?! Oh, poor Lappy! I should never have let you go!

All right, this has to be said. I can't get Heidi's comment about "inanimate object love" out of my head. (That conversation took place when I met with her in person. Post forthcoming on that!) I like my Lappy, he's useful, but please allow me to disabuse any notions of romantic love for said Lappy. Okay, moving along.

For now, The General has kindly allowed me to appropriate his Lappy for my computer needs. (I'd joke about feeling like I'm cheating on my Lappy but Heids might get the wrong idea...) I might not be returning to my regularly scheduled posts because of the adjustment but I'll do my best. I promise I'll get around to telling you all about Storymakers but not today. Suffice it to say, I met some amazing, awesome people and had a wonderful time. I promise I'll detail it better later.

For now, I'm going to argue with my "warranty" people and make sure that the Lappy gets back to his good ol' self ASAP! Wish me luck!

That's horrid! Poor Lappy!

Best of luck!

That totally sucks! Fortunately, he's replaceable!

Yeah... I'm not happy about that. I wrote their CEO a kindly worded letter. This is the SECOND computer that has come back unrepaired. As a matter of fact, the first one that I sent to them with a screen issue came back in PIECES!

Urge to send botnet on DDOS run rising... RISING... lowering... RISING!

Please pardon the compy security terms... They make sense to us compy security types. (or, in normal terms: Get the pitchforks and torches!)

I'm sorry about the compy, babe.

hmmmm, you have me more worried than ever with all this Lappy talk! (just kidding. Really!) So sorry "he" (hee hee) is out of order. I hope he feels better soon. :)

Just tell me your writing is backed up on a disc...right? I hope! I hope! And, much luck to Lappy!

Do you have to pay for that??? Oh, gosh, I feel your pain. We have an unrepaired lappy up in our bedroom right now. We gave up on the poor thing. I hope yours gets fixed this next time round!

Tess, the writing is backed up. I'm neurotic about that because once I'd almost lost a lot of work. Now I'm an obsessive "saver." =]

You're all so kind! Sorry if I've come off as whiny. I'm really just trying to be funny and let you know why I'm not around as much. (Although I seem to be crankin' out a few posts all the same, huh?) =]

I'm so sorry! Poor Lappy.

I've missed you! I did email you back, I hope you got it ok.

You got to meet Heidi? Storymakers conference? Oh, how exciting! I admit that I'm rather jealous over here! But I'm so happy that you got to go!

We're organizing a midnight candlelight vigil for Lappy - would you like to come and give a speech to the masses?

(I only laugh to keep from weeping!) LOL

Just thought I would throw in a status update.

I called the manufacturer yesterday (did I slander their name on here already? Nope. Doesn't look like it. I will try to refrain from mentioning who 'they' are).

So anyways... I called HP yesterday and they told me they would have someone from their 'repair escalation' department call me back first thing this morning, since this is the fourth repair that we have had to request on this thing within the past few weeks. "They may have more options then I do".

... That's the last I have heard from them...

Now if you will excuse me, I have to go prep a botnet...

(I really don't have an active botnet... so if HP really gets attacked by a DDOS anytime soon, it wasn't me! I promise!)

I don't which is worse. The fact that your laptop is broken or that you have to argue with the warranty people.

we shall hold a wake in it's honor, followed closely by the forming of a lynch mob which will march on the service center and warranty office and burn their buildings to the ground!! And we shall love every minute of it!

oy warranty people . . . have fun with that. Good luck on getting it fixed!

Oh, my heart doth rend in pity for thine unfortunate lappy.

I shall ever hold out hope that his incapacitating illness shall not hold thee in bondage for long.

And that the miscreants responsible for his untimely demise shall meet a miserable doom!

(Um, yeah. It's been one of those days.)

Hey girl! YOU literally are EVERYWHERE! I am a writer too. Went to the LDSstorymaker Conf. It ROCKED! Went to Annette's class on grammar. She is so COOL!
I have to read one of her books as soon as I am done with James Dashner! :) I have a spazzed out blog used to make friends and win over ALL of you in the bloggy world, and a writer's blog to share the ups and downs of my world in writing. My profile shows my blogs now. Finally I got it straight.
Thanks for blogging! See ya later!

I'll add my meager voice to the long list and say, I'm thinking of lappy wiyh possitive thoughts.

Shoot! That really stinks! Hope you are able to get a good replacement soon. It would be hard to write without a lappy!

"When last we left our hero, he was as good as dead. Will the fix ever come for him? Will his screen ever be good as new? And will Frank ever propose to Amy? Stay tuned for this weeks exciting episode of: As the lappy turns..."

Just an update for any of you that are following this story at home. That theoretical phone call that was supposed to happen the next day... Yeah. Never happened. I called that evening and they said, "Oh... it could take up to 72 hours... not including the weekend, so you should hear from them by Monday at the latest". Well, Monday came and went, and nothing. So I called them AGAIN! How many phone calls am I up to? I lost track. By now I am pretty furious, and when I get furious with computer places, I like to throw around my Microsoft trainer status.

So I was like, “Do you know how many students I teach? All those admins and programmers.”
And they were like, “No, don’t hurt us!”
And I was like, “Yeah! You’re on my horror story list now!”
And they were like, “No! Say it’s not so!”

Ok. So that’s not quite how it went down. It's really late and I'm really tired, so it's all a little fuzzy. However in there they did mention that they did call the day after they put in the request. Hmm. Strange how I never heard this phone call. And also very strange, was this so called ‘message’ that was left. I never heard that either.

All right, now skip ahead another 24 hours. Finally I get a call from them. Really short and gruff, but the good news is they are building a brand new laptop for us to cover the issues with the old one. Yeah! And they are starting the warranty period over again. Finally! Please allow 2 to 67 weeks for delivery…

PS: My grammar is atrocious, and I know you are all writing people, so I must greatly and humbly beg your forgiveness! I have committed grammar murder here several times over! Alas, I am a computer geek. Not an English one.
