Yes, I’m cringing about the title too but it works.
Some of you may have noticed that my return to the blogosphere didn’t go as planned. I have a few reasons for that but the most chief among them is that one of my little sons broke his arm!
Yep, the second day into school, he fell off the monkey bars. Let me tell you, that phone call from the school is not one I ever want to have again. I’ve got to give it to them, they were cool as cucumbers over there (I would have been hysterical) but lest you think that they were not compassionate, I got there and learned otherwise. There were four older woman, all of them doting and loving on my son. When we left the school, all of them made my lil’ dude promise to let them sign his cast
.
For a while there, we were worried there wouldn’t be a cast in the near future. Due to the nature of the break, the doctor wasn’t sure if my lil’ guy would have to have surgery and there was no way to know until the swelling went down. Thankfully, we got the good news today and now my little man’s arm is safely ensconced in bright orange wrapping.
Hopefully we’ll only have 4 weeks of the cast and then it’s back to high jinks and debauchery. =P In the meantime, my son will be a rockstar in class, fully prepared for the masses to add their names to his arm of fame. We’ll send him armed and ready with sharpies.
Aside from my obvious relief at his wellbeing, where’s the silver lining in all this mess? As soon as we got home, my son asked me to do the honors of breaking in the cast.
Let’s just say that for a minute there, I was the one who felt like a rockstar.
Until next time,
L.T.
p.s. I am trying to catch up with your blogs. If you haven’t seen my comments yet, expect them shortly. It’s taking me longer than I hoped for. Thanks for being patient, guys.
p.s.s. I quite forgot that this is my 100th post for DoQaI (Dreams of Quill and Ink) and I will be doing a giveaway but not yet. Stay tuned.

I'm glad he's OK! I've only broken one bone, and that was my wrist.
Dear Twin A,
I love you. I am so glad that you are ok. Your cast looks so cool. Orange is my new favorite color. Get Better Soon !
Love,
I.R.
Broken arms are moments of panic. Orange is a very cool color.
My dd broke her arm when she was 18 months old. They put the cast on her, and it went up over the elbow. The next morning she said uh, oh and handed it to me. She had a splint after that.
I hope it doesn't affect his year too much.
Mim
He's such a cute little critter. Casts are so much better than they were 25 years ago.
I hope his arm heals soon. Casts are no fun. Wait until he finds out that they make a great weapon.
Oh no! I would have been hysterical myself. So glad he's ok and didn't need surgery! :)
Oh man. That isn't fun. You have such a good attitude about it. I'm sure it will wear off on him.
This will be a year he'll always remember.
Oh I would have been so hysterical. Glad they were calm and cool and took care of your little one. Good to see he should be just fine. And yay for mom being the first to sign the cast.
Oh no! a broken arm? That is a call I dred too, but having active boys...it just might be inevitable. Glad it all turned out okay. (well as okay as a broken arm can be) I'll be praying for a fast and easy recovery :)
For us it's so stressful but for them it's a badge of honor. My daughter STILL brags about how she has broken each arm and a toe. Like it's proof of how tough she is. Kids crack me up. Hope he feels better soon!
Yikes. That's a phone call I don't want either. Bleh. All sort of craziness going on right now.
Hope things go well there!
oh, the babies and their sweet little brittle bones. And hooray for the gentle flutters of the mama hens int eh school offices.
I'm new to your blog, so when I saw the first picture, I wondered if you were an eccentric old lady who had a "family" of squirrels!
So glad your son is on the mend.
BTW, where do you find your photos?
So glad it wasn't anything that required surgery - I can imagine your worry!
And remember, luv, no obligations among friends. ~hugs~ Just love.
Congrats on your 100th post! And no worries on catching up. I know how difficult that is. So sad about your son! I've never had a broken bone, and I hope I never do. Too bad there's not regrowth stuff like in Harry Potter, huh? One night of pain and it's over!
Good luck with all of that, and give him a hug for me. :)
Poor little guy! I like the orange cast, though. ;-)
Oh, the poor thing! (And you, too, mom!) I'm glad he didn't have to have surgery.
We've had a couple broken bones at our house and it is no fun at all. :(
Oh, glad to hear your little guy didn't have to go through surgery--not fun at all. There is a certain cache with a cast, though, isn't there? =)
Things do always seem to pop up, don't they? Hopefully you'll feel a bit more under control soon!
Yeah, I've received that dreaded call from the school a number of times over the years...broken arms, black eyes, you name it...and the school ladies have always been wonderful. My daughter totally milked her rock star status...she loves sympathy and drama in equal measure! She would have kept her cast on forever if we let her!
Hang in there...write when you can.
xo
Congrats on the 100th post.
I'm so sorry to hear about the broken arm. I broke mine as a child and this is a good time of year for it to happen. Not quite as hot and miserable!
Hope he is better soon.
Oh how I dread that call. Any of those kinds of calls.
Well done all the way around.
You ARE a rockstar!
I admire your calmness about the whole situation. How sweet that he wanted you to sign it first! I'm glad he's ok!
I'm glad to see you took a time-out, and in honor of giving you less to read, I didn't write any new posts. Um...yeah. For a month. Or so.
Yep, that's why. *Ahem*.
Don't feel guilty. I'm trying not to. I have missed you tons, and I'm slowly going around to my favorite blogs to say "Hi!". I even love you enough to type out a comment while nursing this little guy! Doing so has reminded me that I really do need two extra arms. That's proof that evolution doesn't exist, or mothers would have at least four.
I'm going to stop rambling now. Is the fact that it's 3:45 am any excuse? No. Ok, I'm going now!
I love that you said you felt like a rockstar signing your son's cast. I love what you wrote. You are one sweet mama.
Glad the kid's doing well. A little rockstar status never killed anyone!
Oh wait...
;-)
I'm sure he's awesome just like his momma!
WOW...glad he is doing better. YIKES.
I got hit by a car in 5th grade and I only sustained a broken leg...my Mom on the other hand, likely had a heart attack when she arrived on the scene. So scary.
Ugh, poor little guy!!! (and Mama)
Love the orange cast. :)
Hey LT...there's a surprise waiting for you on a grahampage....
Sorry about the arm ... but how cool that you were the first to sign it!
Poor kid! That has got to be a lousy phone call to get. At least the nurses were calm. I'd have been a little panicky too.
Thanks for all the comments on my site today. I've been waiting for you to post something more....You must be very busy nursing the arm. Good to hear from you though, I hope all is well. :)
