My Little Stroll

I heard a song recently that’s just dancing in my head. Want to hear it? Well, I wish I could show you but YouTube is being difficult about it. However, I’ll give you the link:

One Step At a Time

It’s by Jordin Sparks. I’m sure many of you have already run into it (unfortunately, I’m behind the times with my music).

Of course, it’s made me think about this writing journey. Sometimes I feel so eager to just get up and go, get it over with, get that publishing contract and rock the New York Times! (Yeah, I know it’s a wild fantasy. So sue me. But don’t. I’m not rich. Yet. Ha ha!)

This song made me step back and realize that there’s a time and I need to enjoy where I’m at too. Also, there’s a line that specifically struck me.

“It's gonna happen and it's supposed to happen and we find the reasons why one step at a time.”

Someday, it will happen. It’s supposed to happen. Perhaps I’m taking liberties with the ladies of fate but I think, just maybe, it is supposed to happen for me. Maybe not the way I’m thinking but I think I’m supposed to be a writer. I’m happy here. And that is supposed to happen.

So, to spread a little sunshine your way, I’m sharing both the link and the lyrics with you in the hope that you’ll remember to take it one step at a time and cherish the walk.

Until next time,

L.T.

"One Step At A Time"
Hurry up and wait
So close, but so far away
Everything that you've always dreamed of
Close enough for you to taste
But you just can't touch
You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet

Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting

[Chorus:]
We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen and we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time

You believe and you doubt
You're confused, you got it all figured out
Everything that you always wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew
You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet

Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting

[Chorus]
When you can't wait any longer
But there's no end in sight
when you need to find the strength
It's your faith that makes you stronger
The only way you get there
Is one step at a time

[Chorus x2]

It is absolutely supposed to happen to you. It will happen to you. I know it like I know my own name, well perhaps better than I know my own name sometimes. Your time is now. Don't be afraid to let yourself believe it and enjoy it.

Always behind you, "one step at a time"

Baby steps, and "sticktoitiveness" as I like to call it always equal success! Sometimes the wait is long, but it will happen if you keep at it! And so it will for you! :D

Wise words, but so hard to remember sometimes. :)

I think it will happen for you, too.

Wow. That song is perfect. I feel all of it. Everything.

And you're right. It's supposed to happen to YOU. It will.

Wow! I've heard that song tons, but I guess I've never really heard the words before. Thanks Lex!

I loved this part best:

You believe and you doubt
You're confused, you got it all figured out
Everything that you always wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew
You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet

Behind the times in music?? I can't imagine why with munchkins, writing dreams and life.

Good luck in our pursuits because Lady Fate knows it must be true.

It's sounds like you're enjoying the path, regardless of where it leads. :) What a great place to be. Everyone should be so fortunate.

You'll get there, Laura. Just keep writing. I've got a spot on my shelf saved for your book, so better get to work!

Hadn't heard the song before. Thanks for sharing it. I should be finishing packing but can't resist reading just a few of my favorite blogs...

I have a dream of traveling the world, doing book signings and visiting the movie set where my novel is fleshing into real life. However, I know in my heart that time is not right now for me. Or maybe not even in the next few years. But when it happens someday, it will happen when it's supposed to happen and I will be ready.

It is funny because this is something that I have to reminded of constantly. I am always trying to do too much at once, and I want what it all now. I expect a lot of myself, and want the end instead of enjoying the journey. One step at a time.

"taking liberties with the ladies of fate."

What a great line!

You are most certainly bound for greatness my friend. Do enjoy the ride, for it's sure to me scenic!

This is just what I needed today, this week, now. Sometimes I get so impatient with myself and my apparent lack of progress. I need to remember to celebrate every step...including the ones that make me stumble.

And I do believe there are certain things we are meant to do. And I think we feel those callings deeply.
