Brimming Joy

One day at a time—this is enough. Do not go back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering.”
--Ida Scott Taylor

The Lappy is back but life has kept me away. I’d apologize but I’m truly not that sorry. I’ve had some things happen recently that have filled up my heart in a way that brought to life how empty that place of me has been.

Sometimes, we just need to live, right?

So my big news is that after two long years, my little brother is home. He had been serving a mission in Paraguay for our church and on Friday, he stepped off of the plane and back into the insanity that is our family. But oh, what a happy insane asylum it is!

I’ve always known how much I adore my little brother and I felt his loss keenly every single day he was gone but I can’t describe the welling of joy into a canyon of my heart that was so empty without him. There has been so much laughter these last several days. It’s like having lived underwater for so long that I’d forgotten I breathe air.

Perhaps it sounds a bit dramatic but if you knew my little bro, you’d say it’s not near adequate enough to describe the impact he has on our lives. Either way, I’m full of happy.

The other good news? I’m making some significant progress on my WIP and a new project too. It’s amazing what a little lack-of-internet can do for you, huh? =]

I’ll do my best to post more often but if you’re seeing less of me, just know that I’m either writing up a storm or laughing up one.

Until next time,

L.T.

Double the great news with your brother and your progress on your WIP.

Your quote reminds me of something I wrote about the words "not yet" on my post today. Two of my favorite words.

GREAT news! It's obvious the love you have for your brother and I'm glad you have him back in your life. And the progress on your WIP makes it all the better. Congrats. Hope to be seeing a HUGE sample of that writing very SOON.

Happy to hear you family is properly reunited! What a treasure!

Enjoy all the time away you need. We need to live life in order to write about it.

Mmmm. Home. Love when it's complete.

Also, yea for writing time! (There are days when I'll chant "Down with the Internet" ... but today is not one of those days.)

Happiness is the best excuse of all. Congratulations with your WIP. Soon it will be your finished product!

Yeah WIP! But you know what I always say... Submit your fricken prologue! Hahaha! Now I'm haunting you through blog posts too! I know, that makes no sense unless you know what I'm talking about, but L.T. knows...

And knowing is half the battle...
Which ususally don't ever happen in prologues, actually...

So happy for you to have your brother home. And I bet you love him all the more knowing what it's like to be apart for so long. :)

Congrats on your progress. It's amazing what can be accomplished without the internet. ;) Glad to have you back, even if it is sporadic.

What a sweet post. I think I need to spend more time just living too. I have to say, my son will go on a mission in just over two years. I want him to go; I really do. But part of me is wondering how I will possibly get by without him for so long!

Yay! I'm so glad your brother is home. Sometimes it's hard to imagine how you'll feel until you see them again.

*hugs*

I'm so happy for you both that your brother is home and that you are experiencing more...life.

I will miss not seeing you as much, but I completely understand. I'm trying to balance the online with the everyday life thing myself.

You are wonderful and I adore you!

So glad your brother is home, safe and sound! And I say take as much time away from the Internet as you need to get your stuff done. I need to follow your example!

Writing or laughing. I'd take it over the computer too.

It's so great that he's home! It's always a relief when a missionary comes home from a foreign country. I know my parents always worried about me in Venezuela.

I haven't even met him and I love your little brother for how he's gladdened your heart. The happiness of our friends truly is OUR happiness as well. Happy writing, my friend. And happy laughing (naturally)!

How great to have your brother back to hang with! I think sometimes missions are harder on the sibs left behind. At least in our family.

And great quote! I should have read it earlier, rather than writing a long obnoxious post about living day by day. Which, BTW, thanks for reading and commenting on!

I remember when my little-bigger than me brother came home from his mission. I had missed him so much, and felt bereft at the time he was gone. Glad he served, but missed the togetherness. Now he's gone once again, living in another state, but I can call if I need to!

I'm glad you have enjoyed real life time! :)

My brother just left for his mission in Estonia. He is my main plot guy. I called him, sometimes daily, to talk over book stuff. *sigh* I miss him terribly. But your post reminds me that he will come home. And I know he's where he needs to be right now.

Wonderful that your brother is finally back!! Yippee!!!

As far as your lack of web presence, that's fine. I think I should do that, too.

Do you know how many books I'd have ready for submission if I dedicated that same amount to them as I do the internet???

(Shhh! Don't tell Mike!!)
;)

So glad you have your bro with you again!! Happy happy! :D

Paraguay?? I served my mission in Uruguay, a country not too dissimilar from Paraguay (and most often confused for it, just ask your brother).

I bet it's been a sweet reunion. My own lil' bro has been in Bagdad this past year and we're counting the days until he's home (he's been working for the govt).

Glad you are well & that happy is well, too.

Life has kept me away from blog reading more than I'd like, but really, it's all a balance we just keep striving for, right?

PS: I registered for LDStorymakers last night. Yipes, I'm excited!

How fantastic that your brother is home! It's not surprising that when they come home you just keep thinking, man I've missed you so much. It feels complete now again.

And ((hugs)) Laura. You are all kinds of awesome. So glad you've had a reason to laugh and to write lately.
